DC
CASINO
Context
The Drummond Central 'away day' is the creative agency's biggest event of the year. Every time they're bigger and better than the last, so I had the challenge of topping it once again. The night typically entails an awards presentation, a highlights show reel from the past year, and a lot of alcohol.
Solution
It didn’t take long for us all to agree on DC Casino, in the sophisticated style of James Bond but with a taste of Las Vegas cheese. The theme allowed for plenty of entertainment, game play and light-hearted fun.
We considered every detail in planning this black-tie event, from crafting a distinct identity and itinerary to a live performance by ‘Elvis’ (the boss’s brother).

To brand the event, the identity draws inspiration from playing card suits, adding a touch of refined sophistication to suit the black-tie occasion.
To enhance the experience even further, I designed DC’s very own deck of cards, featuring unique illustrations of everyone in the company – giving each person their own personalised playing card! These cards were then given out as keep-sakes and even played with at the casino.
I may have underestimated how many weekends it would take to illustrate 59 people (and 6 dogs)...
In this deck, everyone is ace.
The great thing about the process was that we had a lot of creative freedom, especially when it came to the little touches that helped bring it all together. There's Greggs bag podiums with ‘PIPPA’ ‘RONNIE’ and ‘PETER’ (Pepperoni Pizza), the ‘Guess that Greggs’ box with the logo-shaped sniff holes, the chevrons based off bake patterns, and so much more (if you can spot them).

The event turned out to be a winner, except the prize was a sore head the next morning. Still, I did manage some real wins of my own...
